Added 2020-05-11 21:12:14 +0000 UTCWe set out toward Whidbey Island with no plan. I threw a small bag of lingerie and sweaters into the car, along with my big coat, and a warm coffee. We took the ferry, only tolerating the violent wind for moments before scurrying back inside for warmth. I couldn't tell you where we went. Not because it's some secret, but because it didn't matter. We went wherever we felt like, whichever path looked interesting. Some lead to nowhere. Some lead to magic. We shot at a rocky shore, where the blistering wind numbed my body and tangled my hair. A nonfunctioning phone booth, a rarity to find these days. An empty forest park, because it was the dead of winter. And an abandoned van, with a surprise snow storm. I'll share more of these photos here and there. They aren't new, but they still hold stories and meaning and memories. This one, however, is one of my favorite shots. The snow was just beginning to fall, resting on the leaves, and kissing my skin. My naked body embraced the cold better here, because the trees stood as my shelter. Even in the middle of January, the forest provides warmth and stability. Our great protector.
